If daring musical eclecticism is related directly to deep-rooted personal eccentricity then Bjork continues to be as mental as they come and it's a bloody good thing too. Almost 15 years on from her groundbreaking 'Debut', the Icelandic enigma is continuing to surprise her followers both casual and crazed with an album that makes playful about-turns at will. The operatic duets featuring Antony Hegarty (AKA the world's most popular 'for hire' singer) might have been expected, but the selection of Timbaland-produced beats offers an exhilarating hip-hop shock, while the political rage and pulverising electro pound of 'Declare Independence' carry the kind of clout that would be worthy of an Atari Teenage Riot album. You couldn't make it up. Unless you were Bjork of course.
