Aaron Bruno (former Under The Influence Of Giants frontman) takes experimentation and stretches it to eccentric new proportions with his newest incarnation Awolnation. Galvanising hip-hop with punk rock energy, ‘Back From Earth’ is the very antithesis of his previous band. ‘Guilty Filthy Soul’ (which features Samantha Ronson in the video) has flourishes of both downtuned disco and hand clapping setting the backdrop for Aaron to reach spectacular heights in falsetto, while ‘Sail’ pays homage to Devo in its use of slowed synthesisers. ‘MF’ is speed-induced electro-rock and closing the EP you have to wonder what possibly comes next?
