Arkaea - ‘Years In The Darkness’

Rating: 4

And so the never-ending saga that is Fear Factory continues as Arkaea, featuring Christian (guitars) and Raymond (drums) of Fear Factory alongside members of Threat Signal, release their debut album. With little real identity sub-Strapping Young Lads are blended with less infectious Linkin Park choruses. ‘Beneath The Shades Of Grey’ has hints of Fear Factory, but sounds like one of the myriad watered down bands inspired by them, ‘Awakening’ a thundering FF/Meshuggah clone. The occasional big truck rolling Devildriver style delivery brightens things up but it’s a tepid affair and another Fear Factory offshoot that’ll disappear when the debut fails to sell.
