Arabrot - The Brother Season

Rating: 7

It’s the third album in for Norway’s frankly hideous Årabrot, a churning, industrial-edged noise-rock beast that seemingly prides itself on being as awkward and obtuse as possible. Things seethe and writhe with a raw, unrefined power as they lurch drunkenly from one twisted, wire-wrapped riff to the next, frontman Kjetil Nernes uttering a series of constipated howls, growls and caterwauls that make him sound like some kind of freakish David Yow / Bobcat Goldthwait hybrid and serve as perhaps the only thing more worrisome than the ominous buckling noises that creak and groan around him.
