Animal Collective - Centipede Hz
Highly anticipated? Yep. Good? Uhm...

It’s fair to say that following the unprecedented success of the ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’ – and in particular the ubiquitous ‘My Girls’ – ‘Centipede Hz’ represents
Animal Collective’s most anticipated record to date. And although it’s almost guaranteed to receive critical adulation, this is a difficult album to love. Indeed, at times the irritation it induces feels almost calculated: the stuttering vocal performance on ‘Today’s Supernatural’ is a parody of the band’s previous eccentricities, while ‘Monkey Riches’ is little more than a kaleidoscope of musical E Numbers. In fact, the overriding impression is of a not entirely pleasant sugar rush.
