On the surface of things
Alesana are just another one of those irritatingly popular American screamo bands. The kind of group that relies too heavily on a bloke screaming like a dying crow during the chorus and with midsections designed for synchronised headbanging and faux instrument throwing when playing live. But, with third album ‘The Emptiness’, the band are finally starting to exercise songwriting smarts and all 11 tracks are infused with lush midsections, massive choruses and ambitious ideas. With this record
Alesana might be on the road to somewhere other than Warped Tour mediocrity. Might be, not totally sure yet.
