A Plastic Rose - The Promise Notes
Melancholy and misty-eyed nostalgia.

Following on from a slew of EP and single releases scattered across the last few years, Belfast’s
A Plastic Rose take little time to impress on this, their first almost-full-length. The seven tracks on offer here emit a potent whiff of 90s alt-rock, all led by an incredibly fragile voice that could kick even
Conor Oberst’s pedestal out from beneath him. ‘Two Steps’ and ‘Louder Than Me’ plod along with gradual progression, while ‘Oceans’ and ‘Metal Man’ are much more immediate, groove laden affairs, oozing with rural charm. If melancholy and misty-eyed nostalgia are your bag, there’s not much to discredit here.
