Alkaline Trio have confirmed to Rock Sound that the title of their new album will be 'This Addiction':
"It is the first song on the record and the title of our new album," vocalist Matt Skiba said recently. "The song takes heroin addiction as a metaphor for love. The whole record is really personal, all three of us have been through quite a bit since our last album [2008's 'Agony & Irony'] and it is all expressed through this, all the songs are about the relationships we've been in and so the record has a constant theme."
'This Addiction' will be released in the UK during the early stages of 2010. Stay tuned to Rock Sound for an announcement about some live shows coming sooner than you think!
On Friday, September 19, the O2 Academy Islington opened its doors for the first time to a sell-out show from US punk rock kings Alkaline Trio.
So, what better way to celebrate 10 years of the venue being opened than a special 10-year anniversary with the band that kicked things off in the first place? None, we say. The 'Trio will return to the O2 Academy Islington on August 29 2013 for a special birthday performance. Speaking of the show, main man Matt Skiba has said:
"It is always an honour to play London. To have been at the beginning of an era with O2 Academy Islington was AMAZING. I remember that show being extra special and playing again for their 10th Anniversary is something we're extremely proud to be a part of."
