You Me At Six Confirm Secret Session

Big band, tiny show, all in the name of charity!

It's been the worst kept secret in history, but we're pleased to confirm that You Me At Six will be the headliner at Rock Sound's first Sonisphere Secret Session in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Taking place on Wednesday evening at the Kingston Peel, tickets went on sale last Wednesday and sold out almost instantly – it's not often you get to see a band worth 10,000 tickets in London play a 250 capacity venue and we couldn't be more excited! The band will be on stage from around 8pm, PLEASE BRING ID!

All profits raised from the Secret Sessions will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust. Not sure what they do? Let us help you out there: music plays a huge part in many young adults’ lives and Teenage Cancer Trust remains dedicated to raising funds and awareness through its various musical channels. It’s important to make each Teenage Cancer Trust ward an environment in which the patients can thrive in, whether that’s through music events or meeting new people. A young person’s chance of survival increases if they’re treated on a ward that’s tailored to their needs, so meeting other people their age who they can relate to is important for their physical health and psychological well-being. So how does all this help to make a difference? Six young people aged 13-24 are told they have cancer each day, and though that may sound like a small number it totals up to approximately 2,100 per year. Though roughly three-quarters of these patients recover, not everyone is so fortunate and that’s where the funds of Teenage Cancer Trust come in.

So what did frontman Josh Franceschi have to say about the show?

"We're looking forward to playing a small local venue that we've been going to for years, especially for such a great cause. [Cancer] is something that our friends, family and fans have been affected by so it's one of those events that we actually want to do. You always see stuff on TV about teenagers checking their bodies and not being afraid or embarrassed to visit their GP if they find any sort of lump... I just don't think people are all that aware about how it all works and how it can happen so quickly. I like being able to help and making people aware of these things. We're happy to help in any way we can."

Next Monday we'll start the clues for the second of our Secret Session shows. Taking place at Camden Barfly on Monday 27 June, what we can tell you at this stage is that there are FOUR bands, all are capable of selling out the venue and tickets go on sale at 10am Monday 20th with an announcement on Friday 24th.
