The King Blues: Itch’s Solo Album ‘Not What People Are Expecting’
The King Blues vocalist is going to surprise us all this year.
The King Blues are heading to Los Angeles next week to start work on their new album with John Feldmann. In the new issue of Rock Sound vocalist Itch admits that he will be working on another new project simultaneously with the producer as the band track the follow-up to last year's 'Punk & Poetry'.
Previously described as a mix of The Beastie Boys, Rancid, Skrillex and more, it is clear that whatever emerges from the studio this year will be a shock to many of the band's fans.
"At the same time [we're in LA] we’ll be recording my solo album and I can tell you now that it’s not going to be what people are expecting," he admits. "It’s a separate thing though; The King Blues will stay what it is. I want to keep that band pure and I don’t want to shit on the name, I want us to stay angry, relevant and a protest band at heart. However, as a writer there is a lot more I want to do and a lot more that I’m passionate about.”
According to Feldmann, Itch is "the most talented lyricist [he has] ever met, ever," and the record will change the world once released. Pressure? Only a little...
