Rolo Tomassi Cancel Shows

Vocalist Eva Spence is ill, so the band have had to pull out of their London shows

Rolo Tomassi have been forced to cancel their weekend shows in London because vocalist Eva Spence's is - and this is a medical term - ill as balls.

In a post on her blog, Spence wrote:

"I’m so sorry to have to do this…

I’ve been resting all week in the hope that I feel better for this weekend but there has been no real improvement in how I’m feeling, in fact since Monday I’ve been considerably worse. I went to the Doctors on Wednesday, as it was the earliest they could fit me in and was given some antibiotics and painkillers to take over the next week. They haven’t kicked in yet and although my voice has repaired and returned, my throat is so swollen and painful and I can’t really speak, let alone even consider trying to scream or sing. So, it’s with much regret that I have to say that we’re going to have to pull out Saturday with Enter Shikari in Hatfield and postpone Sunday at the Bloomsbury Ballroom.

I have waited all week thinking I would get better but I feel like the pressure, anxiety and stress of the weekend looming has stunted my recovery anyway, I was so set on being ready to play and hoping that I’d miraculously feel 100% by today! I haven’t been this ill in a few years and would normally fight through to play if it was something like a cold but with what I have at the minute there is no way that I can. Even if vocally I could do the show, which is highly unlikely, after a few songs I don’t think my body would be able to take the strain and I’d probably just collapse! I’d rather wait and do it when I’m fully recovered and rested, so that when we do shoot the DVD it’s something that we can all look back on and be proud of.

I hope you all understand and that this isn’t too much trouble with any plans you’ve made regarding travel/transport and in general for both Hatfield on Saturday and London on Sunday, I have tried my best to work it out but unfortunately had to face that I simply can’t perform. We will be rescheduling the Bloomsbury Ballroom show for some time next year, current tickets should still be valid and I hope to see all of you then.

Again so many apologies to you all, I feel awful about this and as I said earlier in the week, since the band started I’ve only had to cancel one show on behalf of my health, and this week has been incredibly frustrating for me as there’s been nothing I can do about it!

Thank you for all the ‘Get Wells’ over the past week, they have been much appreciated when I’ve been sat at home! Much love to you all, have a great Christmas, and even though we couldn’t finish 2010 with a bang we can at least try and kick 2011 off with one, see you all next year!"

Saturday - Hatfield University (supporting Enter Shikai)
Sunday - Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes
