Reading And Leeds 2010: Weezer Love Wheatus
Rivers Cuomo gives Rock Sound the story behind the band's surprise inclusion of 'Teenage Dirtbag' in their festival set this weekend.
After Weezer put in one, if not the, best sets of the weekend at Reading 2010 Rock Sound grabbed frontman Rivers Cuomo and asked him what the story behind the band's cover of Wheatus' tune 'Teenage Dirtbag' was...
"Whenever we come to the UK journalists ask us about our song 'Teenage Dirtbag' so we figured we'd just add it to our set," the singer admitted. "It took us a day to learn it and it's our song now, we decided to put it in the set this weekend and we're only going to be doing it when we are in the UK."
Earlier in the week Rivers, Wheatus and one of Rock Sound's own snappers were involved in some Twitter banter on the very same subject, was that the cause of the cover?
"No we'd already decided to put the song in, it was a coincidence that confirmed to us that we were doing the absolutely right thing."
