Rage For Christmas Number One: The Battle Continues
Rage Against The Machine still in the lead for Christmas Number One, but not by much!
So yesterday we thought Rage Against The Machine were coasting to the Christmas Number One after their appearance on the Radio and some bloke from a betting shop telling us that, "the chances of a non-X Factor No. 1 now odds-on. Days ago, McElderry was as short as 1-6 on to be announced as a chart-topper this Sunday yet now his odds amazingly stand at Evens, with the price of a non-X Factor Xmas song triumphing just 10-11."
Well, things have changed and now Rage Against The Machine are only 9,000 singles ahead of X Factor winner Joe McElderry with their track 'Killing In The Name'. Sales figures as of today show that Rage have sold 306,115 copies while Joe is right behind with 297,192.
What to do? Buy a copy of 'Killing In The Name' if you have not already, click here to get it for just 29p!
As one PR said in an email to Rock Sound yesterday, "think of it like this - for less than the cost of a cup of coffee or a king size Snickers you can personally deliver a swift kick to the knackers of that pan-faced, smug annihilator of art and cultural blackhole Simon Cowell."
Nice. Even nicer, click here to watch Rage Against The Machine performing live for BBC Radio Five Live.
