Rage Against The MachineRage Against The Machine tonight played a riotous free show in London's Finsbury Park, during which they made a massive donation to homeless charity Shelter.

During a fiery set frontman Zack De La Rocha made references to the Israeli blockade of Gaza, explicitly calling on the UN to condemn the actions of the Israeli army. Much of the polemic, however, was centred around the DIY campaign that originally brought Rage to Number One against Simon Cowell's X-Factor single.

The enduring feeling from the gig was: Rage are still a ferociously powerful live band, as the likes of Bombtrack and a pummeling Know Your Enemy made the 40,000 present comprehensively lose their shit. Their cover of The Clash's White Riot did much the same, except it was all a bit shoutier.

The show also featured organisers Jon and Tracy Morter presenting representatives from Shelter with a cheque worth over £160,000, accrued from the entirety of the profits of the sale of the single.

Rage Against The Machine played:

Testify
Bombtrack
People Of The Sun
Know Your Enemy
Bulls On Parade
Township Rebellion
Bullet In The Head
White Riot
Guerilla Radio
Sleep Now In The Fire
Freedom
---------
Killing In The Name
