Kids In Glass Houses Start Recording Concept Album
Aled Phillips updates fans as the band begin work with Jason Perry on album number three.
Kids In Glass Houses vocalist Aled Phillips has updated his blog as the band start recording their third album in Brussels with Jason Perry and Mike Morgan. According to the singer the record could be a marked change in direction for the band:
"I have mentioned that this will be a concept record, and that early promise is what’s keeping me busy at the moment. Rather than shooting off on my usual free-for-all tangent-laden lyrical assault, I have the skeleton of a story to flesh out with my lyrical meanderings and a journey to narrate, which, for me, is pretty exciting and challenging.
It means that the track listing and the flow and the lyrics all need to be perfectly paced and written to tie the whole thing together. All the songs interlink and this is also going to be reflected in the music, with themes, riffs and nods to other ideas weaving in and out of the songs, much like when you listen to a score or a soundtrack. It’s ambitious for us, but where’s the sense in going backwards and covering old ground? Typing that just made this all very real and now I’m feeling a wave of nausea and nervousness."
The singer also took the chance to thank the band's fans for their support in getting them to this point in their careers:
"Actually, before I go, I’d like to thank everyone for all the support you’ve given us over the years and, specifically, the recent 'Dirt' campaign because, in this day, age and musical landscape, it’s not very easy to stay on a record label long enough to make a 3rd album and we are extremely proud and excited to have gotten this far. It simply would have not happened without you and I’m more than excited for you to hear this one and to go on that big tour shaped adventure we share with all of you."
