Deaf HavanaBy the time Download reaches its final day, the hangovers and fatigue will be firmly setting in, but Deaf Havana still have high hopes the fans will turn up in droves for their Sunday afternoon set.

“We did Sonisphere last year and the tent was over capacity, so from where it finished there were kids watching us up to a good 50-100m away,” says guitarist Chris Pennells.
With a set that looks to soak up some of the good’uns from their forthcoming debut album (we’ve heard it – it’s ace), the lads are hoping to top that performance at Download this weekend, even though they might not be the most ‘metal’ band on the bill.

“Sometimes [at festivals] you’re like, ‘I don’t really know what to see, but I’ve heard about this band so I’ll go and check them out and see what they’re like.’ So I’m hoping that will be us!” explains Chris. “Don’t get me wrong, I like Slayer as much as the next man, but sometimes it’s nice to get away from watching, like, metal legends all day and go and watch something new.”

Deaf Havana play Download’s Pepsi Max Stage on Sunday June 12 at 17.15.
