Download 2011: Suicide Silence - ‘This Is One Of The Biggest And Best Festivals In The World’
Be warned...vocalist Mitch Lucker is expecting insanity when Suicide Silence open the Main Stage at Download 2011 tomorrow.
Opening the Main Stage of Download 2011 on the final day will be Suicide Silence and vocalist Mitch Lucker cannot wait to step onstage tomorrow...
What does it mean for your band to play Download?
"It’s one of the craziest things we’ve ever been able to do. When we did it the first time we were shitting our pants, and now we’re playing Main Stage this year. We’re like, ‘Oh God.’ It’s one of those things; look who we’re sharing the stage with. Your jaw goes to the floor, your heart starts to pound and you see how many people are watching you. It’s like, ‘This is Download. This is one of the biggest and best festivals in the world.’ It’s a crazy feeling. I don’t know, it’s one of those indescribable things.”
Are you planning on a ‘festival set’ of established material, or will you air some new tracks?
“We’re going to be playing two new songs. We started playing ‘Fuck Everything’ on a little mini tour we did, that goes over really well because it’s just a little chant and by the middle of the song everybody knows it. It’s really fun to do live, especially at big festivals. We’re also going to do the single we released, ‘You Only Live Once’. So at least people will be able to hear the songs prior to us playing them so they’re not shocked. I want people to be able to hear it and sing along and go fucking crazy when we play these new songs. We’re really excited to play the new stuff. Really excited.”
Are there any bands you’re looking forward to watching?
“I’m stoked to see everybody. To be honest I love festivals. I love cruising around, watching bands and just doing the festival thing. Linkin Park I’ll definitely try to be at. Especially as we’re playing the main stage I hope we’ll be able to watch them play from side stage and watch something really amazing.”
Are you hoping the performance will help you gain more ground in the UK?
“We want the UK to be like a second home for us. We want have insane shows and make this place somewhere that we can come more often."
