Download 2010: The Damned Things – ‘Download Is The Icing On The Cake’
The rock supergroup might all have loads of festival experience but for their debut UK outdoor show the Anthrax / ETID / FOB crew are pumped nonetheless
The individual members of The Damned Things are all hardened festival veterans, but Download holds a particular place in their collective hearts.
Guitarist Scott Ian, who has played more festivals with Anthrax than most people have had hot dinners, told Rock Sound: “ I played there in ’87 when it was still Castle Donington. A lot of people will be checking us out waiting to be impressed or disappointed.
“I think it’s a great way to end this chapter – these two weeks of us being out as a band playing shows together – and to put a big exclamation point on the sentence. The show will be awesome.”
His partner in rock Joe Trohman, was equally looking forward to the show.
Trohman said: “I’m really excited. I feel like, the way things have been going, it’s going to be the icing on the cake.”
“I think it’s cool that all these great bands have played [at Donington] and hopefully their vibes will shine on us.”
