Stone Sour guitarist Jim Root may be preparing to headline the Ronnie James Dio Second Stage later on this evening at Download 2010 but he says the band will not be settling anytime soon:
”A lot of bands get comfortable when they get to a certain level and they stop setting goals,” he remarked.”We always try to keep that fire burning so we can get to that next level. I want to headline the Main Stage at this festival next year, how about that for a fucking goal?”
As the band prepare to release third album ’Audio Secrecy’ later this year the guitarist also confirmed that the boundaries between his musical projects are beginning to collapse as the focus shifts to Stone Sour's future.
”In the past there were certain things we didn’t do as we tried to keep a clear line between Stone Sour and Slipknot but with this new material we just said if it fits the song then let’s do it whether it sounds like something Slipknot would do or not. We just decided we could do whatever we wanted on this album, me and Corey [Taylor, vocals] think the sky is the limit for this band now, we’re not takin no for an answer and we’re here to fucking crush from here on in.”
Stone Sour play the Ronnie James Dio Second Stage at 20.45.
