Download 2010: Devil Sold His Soul
Devil Sold His Soul talk to Rock Sound ahead of their headline performance on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage.
Devil Sold His Soul are set to headline the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage later this evening, and the band are looking forward to unveiling their new album ‘Blessed & Cursed’.
Vocalist Ed Gibbs said: ”We’re going to play three new songs, including our current single, and another one which should be... quite interesting! We only found out today that we have another few minutes – we thought we’d have five minutes cut out of our set so we dropped the song, but then we found out we got the time back so in it goes! When we went down to 25 minutes that meant it’d be four songs, which is pretty weak so we’d have been pushing it anyway, so we’ll hopefully play six tonight.
“Do we feel like we’re introducing ourselves to people again? Yeah, this is what’s happening – we’ve got something we love coming soon and we’re opening up the gates to people who may or may not like us already. There will be people who weren’t aware of us the first time round so we’re trying to entice them in, but there are also going to be our fans who did like us before so we’re going to have to show them we’ve made a proper step up. This new album goes in quite a lot of different directions even though it’s all cohesive, so it’s hard to pick songs that represent it.”
Despite being scheduled against Job For A Cowboy, Bullet For My Valentine and ludicrous supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, Gibbs is confident they’ll win some new fans over.
“With festivals there are a lot of things you don’t have any control over, so you have to sort out what you can control and just not care too much about the rest. You’ve got to be prepared to take some hits.
“I hope there are some people there who don’t know us already – if the crowd was composed solely of people who are fans it might not be all that busy!”
