Download 2010: Day Two Round-up Review
Megadeth bring the old classics, Cancer Bats and Rolo Tomassi raise merry hell and FFDP cause chaos but Rage’s righteous anger burns brightest at Download 2010.
It’s Sunday already – this weekend has gone fast - and yesterday at Donington will take some beating.
30 Seconds To Mars and the mighty Rage Against The Machine took headline duties on the two biggest stages and each provided immaculate entertainment.
Earlier that day, Dave Mustaine led Megadeth to a victory on the Maurice Jones stage, the same stage which saw a touch of chaos during the extremely busy Five Finger Death Punch set – after a surfeit of fans managed to crowdsurf into the photo-pit and overwhelm security, the metallers were told they had to pull the plug on the set or make every disperse – luckily, frontman Ivan Moody stepped up and commanded the masses to part. The reception FFDP were afforded was nothing short of ecstatic, before and after the incident.
Deftones unleashed new album ’Diamond Eyes’ in the setting sun, Rage played a typically incendiary set of classics, HIM emoted on a large scale (even though the effect was spoiled slightly by the glorious weather and Cancer Bats and Rolo Tomassi caused their typically caustic brand of mayhem. All in all, a pretty ace festval day – down in no small part to the diversity on display (and the fact there were loads of bands to see, in comparison to yesterday...).
Earlier, the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage saw performances from Breed 77, and lower down the bill The Plight, No Mean City and Stand-Up Guy, which today hosts the likes of the ace Hearts Under Fire, Panic Cell and Pub Landlord Al Murray’s band (!) T-34.
