DeftonesDownload 2010 is right around the corner, and no doubt you're doing exactly the same as us at RS Towers: scanning the line-up working out a rough plan of who you want to see and when. It's a festival ritual, right?

But who will the bands themselves be watching? We've been hitting up the likes of Aerosmith, HIM, Cancer Bats and more to find out who they're most excited about catching at the Donington bash, and to kick things off here's Gustav Wood from the mighty Young Guns on why you should watch Deftones.

“I think the stage is set for them to make a grand return, and with the new album being as incredible as it is they’re in a great position.

Chino stands apart from most other frontmen in pretty much every single way – his lyrical style is elegant and poetic, and his vocal style is often imitated but never bettered. He possesses every good quality of a frontman but isn’t aloof – he feels like a normal guy, almost like an anti-rock star. He’s a cool motherfucker! They have a great ability to make big stages seem small and to communicate: it’s really emotional, personal music and can fill big arenas or small, intimate venues.

It would be cool if they leant quite heavily on the new material, because I think it’s some of the best stuff they’ve ever done. Obviously you want to hear the old classics, but to feel like they’re still relevant and contemporary and present it would be cool for it not to feel like a greatest hits set. I’m most excited about seeing how the new songs come across live, because it’s some of the heaviest stuff they’ve done.”

Young Guns play the Pepsi Max Stage on Sunday; Deftones take to the Main Stage on Sunday.
