Did Rage Do It?
Yes they did! Rage Against The Machine are Christmas Number One.
After a lot of excitement, one amazing promise and a raft of support from the rock community it seems that Rage Against The Machine will be the Christmas Number One with their track 'Killing In The Name'!
Reports seem to peg the band at 502,672 singles sold while X-Factor winner Joe McElderry totals at 450,838. A clear win.
Not only that but rumours are that the Rage Against The Machine campaign has raised at least £64,726 (and rising) for Shelter too.
In recent moments these numbers have been confirmed as true from a variety of sources and Download booker and promoter Andy Copping posted the following information on his Twitter:
"You may hear this here first...RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE are No.1 in the UK charts...this news is monumental!! I will reveal the source later but be assured this news is true!! You'll have to await news on the free gig but we're working on it right now."
So, 2009 will be ending with a rocking Christmas and 2010 begins with the promise of a free Rage Against The Machine show. Not bad when you think about it.
