Cursive Already Writing New Material Cursive’s Tim Kasher has said that there won’t be the usual three-year gap between the band’s albums next time. With their sixth studio album, ‘Mama, I’m Swollen’, out June 01 on Saddle Creek in Europe, he’s already started work on another one.

“I’m just starting to write another record,” he told Rock Sound. “We’re trying to have our record quickest follow-up but we don’t know if it’ll happen or not. Generally I would only be writing Good Life songs right now but instead I’ve started writing Cursive songs. That’s a significant difference to the way we’ve done things in the past.”

The last album of Tim’s side-project, The Good Life, ‘Help Wanted Nights’, came out in 2007 and he says he’s not sure when there’ll be another one.

“It’s difficult,” he added, “because Cursive albums tend to take three years to come out and I’m writing albums every year but they’re under different names. I feel like maybe I should focus on one thing for a little while.”

Tim also told Rock Sound that the next Cursive album is likely to have a very different sound to ‘Mama, I’m Swollen.’

“We took a chance of writing songs a little more straight-forward this time,” he said. “We tried to let the songs just kind of groove along. It had more of a classic rock feel to it. But now that we’ve done that I kind of want to do something completely different.”
