Cancer BatsCancer Bats recently confirmed to Rock Sound that the follow up to 2008's 'Hail Destroyer' is well on the way to completion.

''We have nine songs finished and all I need to do is sort out what I'm yelling about," frontman Liam Cormier admits. ''We have two more that are in the works and for those we have no idea what order we are going to make noise in.''

After the band's run of August shows they will return home and commence recording with 'Hail Destroyer' producers Eric Ratz and Kenny Luong, a decision the band made deliberately:

"Our gameplan is to stick with the original crew," Cormier continues. "We listened to a ton of other records but I still love how ‘Hail Destroyer’ sounds. When we were writing we talked about a bigger producer coming to give his input but we thought no, we don’t need that."

The new record, due out at the start of 2010, does not have a confirmed title but the themes of the album are beginning to emerge:

"This album is us trying to not write a record about tour," the vocalist concedes laughing. "It is going to be more introspective and looking at really personal songs like ‘Sorceress’ for inspiration. So it will be more of that, although I’m sure there will still be some talk about vampires in there too. Basically, our new record is Glenn Danzig going on a camping trip with Black Flag’s Greg Ginn, a reanimated Vincent Price and the Beastie Boys. It will sound like those people sat round a campfire telling ghost stories."

Cancer Bats play the following shows this August:

AUGUST
01 - KENT Hevy Music Fest
02 - KNEBWORTH Sonisphere
03 - PLYMOUTH The White Rabbit
04 - NEWQUAY On The Rock Fest
