Cancer BatsCanada’s Cancer Bats have recorded a cover of the Beastie Boys hit ‘Sabotage’.

After playing the song during their set at the Sonsiphere festival this summer, the quartet loved it so much they decided to lay it down to tape.

Frontman Liam Cormier told Rock Sound: “It came off so well and we were so excited about it that we decided to record it. I don’t know if it will make the new album but at the very least it will be on iTunes. All of us have been massive Beastie Boys fans since we were little kids so to do that song and play it in the studio - all of us were freaking out with excitement!”

The band is currently mid-way through recording their new studio album entitled ‘Bears, Mayors, Scrapes And Bones’ in Canada, and will hit the UK again in October supporting Billy Talent.

Liam is looking forward to the tour although slightly red-faced after telling us Brits that Sonisphere was the band’s last UK appearance until 2010.

“We made such a big deal about it [not coming back before 2010] - I almost feel like we’re dicks! But we got an offer from Billy Talent to do an amazing tour and it was like you ‘guys are our best friends and there is no way we’re turning that down’.”

So what can we expect from the tour?

“I wanna be playing a bunch of new songs and throw in the Beastie Boys cover as much as people want to hear it.”
