Alice In Chains Bassist Mike Starr Found Dead Mike Starr, the 44-year-old ex-bassist in Alice In Chains was found dead in his Salt Lake City home this morning.

Starr was best known as one of the founding members in the Seattle grunge outfit Alice In Chains, forming the band in 1987 alongside singer Layne Staley, guitarist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney. He also played on the band's debut album 'Facelift' and on follow-up 'Dirt'.

While Starr made the news more recently with an arrest last month for felony possession of a controlled substance, and for appearing in the third series of 'Celebrity Rehab', it is the loss of a great bass player that fans will mourn most.

Rock Sound's thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
