  2. A Reality Check For Record Store Day 2012

When I think about Record Store day, it reminds me of Morgan Freeman's interview on 60 Minutes about Black History Month. "You are going to relegate my history to a month?" That's exactly how I feel. You are going to relegate buying records to one day? Fuck Record Store Day. A day where people can make believe they care about buying music, and then the next day be all about downloading the latest leak?

People have lost the connection to buying an actual record. Supporting bands, record labels and record shops aside, the most important thing is the connection of a human being with an actual record. I used to skip school when records came out, and then I would physically carry the actual record with me every single day.

Now people download leaks, mix it with 10,000 songs on their iPod, listen to the singles and move on. Actual records played a huge role in my life and development as a full time musician, now I see bands just starting out who care about everything BUT the music they write, because it isn't important to them.

Go out on Record Store Day and buy some records of bands you love, and then do it again the next day, or week, or month…just make sure you do it for yourself.

  3. Why Cancelling Sonisphere Is Crap News For Everyone

Posted Thursday, 29 March 2012 at 9:26 by Ben Patashnik

It’s official: Sonisphere 2012 won’t happen. The news filtered out around the industry on Wednesday and has just been confirmed publicly. We understand all ticket-holders will be refunded but at time of writing Rock Sound isn’t sure whether replacement events will take place, or if the festival will return in 2013.

Sonisphere’s cancellation is a total disaster for everyone involved with rock music, as well as anyone who identifies as a rock fan. Since its inception in 2009 its very existence provided real drama to festival season in the UK, challenging the established rock weekender Download for supremacy and indulging in what amounted to an escalating arms race for headliners. Last year was its peak, and anyone who went to Knebworth that weekend will attest to it being one of the most fun festivals in a very long time; I have hugely fond memories of bellowing along to Metallica while skullfucked on warm beer. It was what the BBC would call a ‘festival moment’, but what the rest of us call a ‘really good time’.

  5. Now Watching: Asking Alexandria On The Warrior Show

Warrior: "Those big fucking beasts on your t-shirts, how many push-ups can they do?"
    Band: "Plenty?"
    Warrior: "FUCKING MILLIONS!!!"

Enough said really. We suggest you watch it all.
