Tour Diary: Enjoy Destroy
Enjoy Destroy hit the road with Staind and keep a diary for Rock Sound's eyes only!
Enjoy Destroy hit the road with Staind for a European tour in January and February. The band kept a diary of the tour for Rock Sound, check it out below in all its glory…
27th January – Hampshire, UK
Our manager and sound guy arrive with our van which will be our home from home over the next couple of weeks. It’s soon loaded up and we’re off to Dover.
The Formula 1 hotel in Antwerp is delightful! Really if you’re going to travel in Europe there’s nothing more you need. They provide everything! Oh, apart from a towel. And soap.
28th January – Hamburg, Germany
Our first gig. No dressing room here, so we have to hang out in the upstairs bar and then mingle with the Staind fans until we go on. Catering is a piece of dog meat in a potato bun. It’s nicer than it sounds.
Meet Staind. They’re cool. Good gig. No dramas. Here we go!
29th January – Copenhagen, Denmark
Aaron from Staind takes us on a tour of the back alleys of Copenhagen. Which is quite an eye opener. Cool new venue, stage must be as wide as Brixton Academy.
Great crowd tonight – we sell a ton of CD’s after the show and get invited to ‘The Rock’ for an after show. Then get bought drinks all night which was nice. Although whisky and apple not a personal favourite after a dozen or so you don’t notice the taste.

30th / 31st January – Travel / Day Off
7 hours on a ferry. Zzzzzz
1st February – Berlin, Germany
We went out with a friend of our manager’s last night who took us to an excellent club with a couple of DJ’s playing punk 7 inches. Lost terribly at fooseball.
Huxley’s is a big old barn. All sorts of problems in sound check but the gig went really well. Even had people singing along to Rifles!
2nd February – Cologne, Germany
Early start for a radio interview featuring the first outing of “the new song”.
Got to the gig, did the gig, tiny dressing room with a stinking fridge, left the gig, drove for hours in freezing fog and snow to somewhere.
3rd February – Zurich, Switzerland
The gig is right next to Hooters! Happy days. Venue is a really cool old theatre. Tabs climbed into the fridge in the dressing room in an attempt to prove he really is the coolest man in rock.
Went for a wonder after the show and wondered inadvertently into the red light district. And not in a good way. We got chased out by angry hookers.

4th / 5th February – Travel / Day Off
Oh dear. We got ripped apart by the German border patrol. They took one look in the van and obviously decided we looked like international drug smugglers. Ed had to get naked in front of two men with guns whilst a dog sniffed his insides. Still not sure why they singled him out for the lift and separate treatment as he’s not that sickly looking. Is he?
Eventually make it to Salzburg for a night, then head on to Vienna.
6th February – Vienna, Austria
Time for a bit of sightseeing before the gig. Nice to actually get the chance to see a city rather than just the inside of a venue on the outskirts of town. So, where do we go to get that traditional Viennese experience? Starbucks of course. We needed to sate our loathsome corporate souls with expensive coffee and lounge jazz.
Good to be gigging again. But we need to get our sea legs back after a couple of days off.

7th February – Munich, Germany
Another radio interview, but can we find the studio? No. Eventually get to where we’re meant to be only to discover it was 2 minutes away from where we started.
It was very loud in Munich. We like it loud. More people singing along. Good gig.

8th February – Tilburg, Holland
O13, the best venue in Europe! We played here last year with Alter Bridge and it’s great to be back. Great sound, great lights, great dressing rooms, great crowd. Unfortunately Freddie’s not feeling great and we have to arrange for two buckets by the side of the stage, one for puke, one for shit. Fortunately neither gets used.
Despite that probably the best performance of the whole tour. People of Tilburg, we love you.
9th February – Day Off
We arranged an acoustic show at a bar opposite the O13. We managed to persuade a few people along and the whole thing went down pretty well. Even ‘Reggae Screamer’. Although the less said about that the better.
10th February – Paris, France
Last gig! Really cool one though. Best crowd we’ve had, really nice old venue. Great gig followed by hugs all round and long goodbyes to the Staind guys.
11th February – Hampshire, UK
We made it. Completely unharmed, no permanent marks, no major dramas. Thanks to everyone that came along to the shows and thanks to Staind for putting us on.
