Shrinebuilder Head To London
Doom supergroup head to London for what promises to be the show of the year!
“This is definitely up there in the personal highlights!” Scott Kelly, most notable for his stamp on the post-metal scene with Neurosis, is enthusing about Shrinebuilder.
It’s easy to see why his new band has got him so fired up: on paper the line-up (featuring The Hidden Hand / Saint Vitus / The Obsessed / Spirit Caravan man Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich on guitars and vocals, Al Cisneros of Sleep and Om on bass and vocals, Melvins / Porn / Altamont man Dale Crover on drums, and Kelly himself on vocals and guitar) is the stuff that lovers of heavy psyche and doom can only dream of. The brainchild of Wino and Cisneros, with Sleep / Om man Chris Hakius handling initial drumming duties until retiring from the music scene altogether earlier this year, Kelly was more than happy to join the fold, and with Dale on board, the self-confessed Melvins fan was in his element.
“Dale and I have known each other for a really long time, since 85. Every time I see the Melvins I walk away going, ‘They’re the best band in the world!’ so working with Dale is still a dream, but once we get through playing some gigs it’ll be a bit more tangible.”
Shrinebuilder’s Neurot-released, self-titled debut was recorded in just three days and now the band are planning to make their epic noise real for one night only. On Sunday April 18 they headline the London Scala with support from Black Math Horseman. It promises to be an extraordinary evening, to get tickets simply click on the flyer below!
