Band of the Week: Decade
Stream Decade's new self-titled EP with introduction from vocalist Alex Sears...
"The whole point of the EP you are about to hear was to try and put the last year or so into words. The five songs sum up how much has changed for me personally and us as a band over the past year since we started taking things more seriously and made a few changes to our sound and style.
The first track 'Never Enough' is about how my nan passed away last year and how much regret I felt for not going to see her towards the end. It's all about forgiving and forgetting and not letting grudges get in the way of family, because sometimes it can be too late.
'Won For Sorrow' was written after a stupid argument I had with my girlfriend when I was wasted in some club. The next day I was horribly hungover and decided to write this as an apology! It's about realising what you have right in front of you and not wishing for things you don't really want.
'Home Alone' is about being home...alone. The time in between touring is the most boring time, because you realise how much fun it is, so when you go home you're like 'man, this is shit!' Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy being at home but sometimes it's nice to know when the next tour is so you have something to look forward to.
'Low' is based on a conversation I had with a mate about how girlfriends can sometimes be towards guys in bands. It can be tough! Especially when band commitments stop them from seeing you as much.
The last track 'Down and Out' is a story of how hard it can be to make a long distance relationship work, especially when you're in a band. Not only do you not get to see them as often as you'd like anyway, but when you are touring it's even worse! It makes you appreciate the time you have with them for sure though.
Anyway, introductions over, hope you enjoy the EP. Check out facebook.com/decadeofficial and come see us on tour!"
