Architects - Five Reasons To Be Excited

The RS tour featuring Architects, Norma Jean, Devil Sold His Soul and Lower Than Atlantis kicks off tonight, and here's why we're so stoked to have the aforementioned metallers headlining what is going to be one of the tours of the year, no doubt.

Architects1. The fourth album is about to drop...
The Brightonians have been recording their new album with Steve Evetts in Los Angeles and will be unveiling a couple of new jams while on tour. The follow-up to ‘Hollow Crown’ is basically their stab at metal immortality – they’ve had the time to create something really special that asserts them as major players in the metal world – and they’re going to make sure it utterly slams. Which means, on this tour, you’re going to see a really good band become great.

2. …but the old songs still slay
Having reissued the stunning ‘Hollow Crown’ last month (a richly-deserved 9/10, proving it’s a record that has aged extremely well), they’ll be keen to remind everyone why we cared about them so much in the first place. By now everyone’s familiar with the likes of ‘Early Grave’ and ‘Dead March’ and considering this is their biggest headline tour in the UK ever it’s going to feel like one long celebration of everything they’ve done so far… and everything that’s coming.

3. They're as excited about the tour as we are

And that’s pretty damn excited. Frontman Sam Carter knows this is their opportunity to take a step up in the UK; the ramifications of headlining in such large venues, though, don’t faze him. “There's more pressure when you're headlining but we love it,” he told Rock Sound. “We support a lot when we're overseas so it’s always good to come home and have our own crowd. There's more anticipation and excitement, you know that all the kids there are there for you. To see us headlining 1,500 capacity venues blows my mind. It makes me very excited for the future and where this band can take us next.”

4. The shows are going to be more intense than ever
Speaking from the studio last month, Carter explained how he’s trying to make this record his most personal yet. Expect performances that are off the chart in terms of his emotional intensity, and you can bet the band will do their level best to play appropriately hard to match him. Basically, what you’re going to get is five dudes playing their hearts out every single night until everyone goes home slightly deafer than they were before.

5. They'll be fresh as daisies
Practically the only time they’re not on tour is when they’re in the studio – saying Architects tour ‘a lot’ is like saying outer space is ‘pretty big’ – so they’ll be more than ready to start tearing shit up. They’re playing a short Canadian jaunt just before coming over to the UK so will have shaken off all the studio-based rustiness… so you’d better be prepared.

There's still time to buy tickets for the tour - Manchester and London are sold out, so hurry up and click here to get some...
