Joe Trohman Announces His Return To Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman has announced his return to the band after taking some time out to focus on his mental health.

Trohman had said in January this year that he was “stepping away” from the band to avoid burnout and focus on his mental health, having said at the time:

“Neil Young once howled that it’s better to burn out than to fade away. But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful.

“Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years.”

And now it appears Trohman has had the time he needs to recoup his energy and strength, having shared on his Instagram:

“Hey everyone, I’m officially back! I want to thank everyone for the love and support while I took some time away to focus on my brain and get healthy for my family, my friends and myself.”

The guitarist also paid tribute to the man who replaced him while he took some time out: Ben Young, who was the band’s longtime guitar tech.

Trohman added: “I also want to thank Ben Young for stepping up and filling in on the shows I missed.”

“He is a true gentleman and a scholar. I’m stoked to be back in action and I can’t wait to see everyone on tour this summer!”

And just when you felt like crying with joy at the news, it’s worth remembering that earlier this month, Fall Out Boy released a limited-edition vinyl that included actual tears of the bandmates.
