Mindful of the fact that the second live election debate is this evening, broadly based upon Foreign Policy, we thought it might be an idea to summarise the week in politics for you.

David Cameron has been followed around all week by a journalist dressed in a chicken suit, then yesterday a Cornish hoodie threw an egg at him. He quipped - "At least I know what came first..." - oh he's quick. In 2001, someone chucked an egg at John Prescott, Labour's deputy leader at the time, and Prescott threw a left hook back.

Nick Clegg has soared in popularity since last week's televised debate. A number of polls put him in front or level 'clegging' with David Cameron. This week we also found out that he is a bit posh and went to school with Louis Theroux. That Louis Theroux programme on Sunday about America's Medicated Kids was very thought provoking.

Gordon Brown is running last in most opinion polls that we've seen. He hasn't had any eggs chucked at him this week, and despite exhaustive research, we don't think he knows any TV presenters. There appears to have been a disproportionate amount of media coverage to the two challengers. Ideally, if a celebrity could egg Brown, he might be back in the race.

Anyway, check back tomorrow for our reaction to round two.
