Looking Back And Forward At Blink

Issue 76 of Rock Sound, September 2005. I had just got back from Warped Tour where I was interviewing the Transplants and I wrote the following introduction to the piece:

“I don’t know if Blink will definitely get back together. Ever.” Twenty minutes into Rock Sound’s interview with Transplants drummer Travis Barker, the bomb has well and truly been dropped. As Barker utters those words he fixes Rock Sound with a serenely calm yet deadly serious look that more than infers a definiteness and concreteness to this casually phrased sentence. Blink is over, done and everyone needs to let it die. It would appear that Barker has. For the previous nineteen minutes he has referred to Blink in the past tense, with no disrespect, bitterness or derision, but with the syntax of a man who is looking forward to new projects and new challenges. A man who has closed a door firmly shut.

I believed him, I think he believed him. I can't wait to ask him what changed.
