Making sure to avoid the sounds of 3OH!3 at all costs, I woke up on Saturday morning wedged between a blow-up bed and backpack.
For breakfast, lager, wotsits (or the Netto equivalent) coffee and whisky and wet jaffa cakes. It was a leisurely affair sitting around and trying to avoid getting rained on. We met our camping neighbours four 17-year-old boys who insisted on asking us what our star signs were over and over again and never tiring of it.
Cleanliness was a bit of an effort given that I still had no clothes with me, and due to the ineffective sheet I was too frozen to remove any of them anyway – so in a vile and disgusting way persisted in wearing the same thing - though did use deodorant and baby wiped the essential areas. Also brushed teeth with the aid of a can of lager.

My babysitter for the weekend Kelly then arrived, complete with tent, and as it was a pop up tent there was no need to risk injury and help set it up. Instead we all wandered down to the arena. Ended up hearing The View – but I couldn’t understand one single word and became convinced that the singer just sang in a made up language. Thankfully Brand New were up next and they played songs mainly from ‘The Devil And God’ and ‘Daisy’ which was great because while their musicianship is of the highest quality they’re fucking miserable as a live act – except Vinnie – he played his little socks off. Vampire weekend were really good but a little joyful, so at this point I went for a hot dog. It was an error and when I saw all the pizza and chips that everyone else had I just couldn’t be satisfied with my choice. And the hot dog went cold mid way through and that really spoiled my enjoyment of it.

Kate tried to persuade me to watch a bit of Yeah Yeah Yeahs but I soon tired of that and went for some cider. It was at this point I bumped into Owen from Grammatics. We sat down and had a drink and a bit of a chat, he was preserving his voice and saying it was a shame he couldn’t indulge in some of the wilder exploits of his band mates because of it. I also bumped into Rachel and Rory from Kasms who confessed to driving to Leeds in an ambulance. They were telling me of their adventures in Reading, which involved unmitigated levels of violence by all accounts! I also bumped into Benny from Gaslight Anthem and had a chat with him.

Much fun was had then I found my party and went to watch AFI – got a little bit adolescant particularly during tracks from Sing The Sorrow and then left to make it to Radiohead. They were sheer brilliance.

After this we were accosted by Holy State in the press tent and enjoyed several pints of cider with their drummer. There was then much dancing in the Smash and Grab tent – mainly incredibly cheesy music such as ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ – Christ why am I writing this?

Anyway by the time that ended it was 3 or 4am so we went back to the Guest Area and I persuaded the DJ's to let me play a song or two before we headed back to the campsite for sleep. Day Two done and dusted.
