Day One: Saturday 6th February
9.00am

We all slither out of our beds and leave our comfortable abodes for a tour bus overflowing with baggage, merch boxes and equipment. We welcome each other by exchanging hungover grunts and Keef (our tour manager) encourages us to all to swallow a submarine sized cod liver oil tablet each.

The last few days have seen us back in The 'Low (our practice room from the 'Common Dreads' writing sessions) cementing live variations and remixes into our brains and getting off our faces on soldering fumes whilst fixing all the broken wires from our European tour.

We got to witness most of Blackpools' 'cultural' delights after an unwanted tour of its one way systems trying to locate the venue. But after a good hour of fidgeting, bickering and shouting at the Sat-Nav we arrived for soundcheck. This is when our day took an unprecedented turn for the worst. After marvelling our new lighting rig and sound system for this tour, we took to the stage to play our new song 'Thumper' for the first time on a stage. Half way through we were ordered to stop by health and safety as, unknown to us, chunks of plaster were falling from the ceiling.

Anyone who hasn't been to the Empress Ballroom needs to know what a spectacle it is, a beautiful building, but unfortunately for us at that point it was then confirmed as structurally unstable to house the gig. Going out in front of the hundreds of people that had been queuing all day to tell them this was a gruelling experience for sure. After a four hour meet and greet session to try and apologise to as many people as we could we still rinsed out at the 'aftershow' party, (well i guess I can't even call it an 'after' show party as there was no show.) But am definitely itching to play tomorrow now.
