So yesterday the Big Scary Monsters five-a-side football tournament took place and team Rock Sound were there...team captain Tim Newbound filed his post match report this morning...read it all below:

In short, the troops did us proud! I donned the gloves and provided a mixture of quality and calamity. We won our group and went out to the eventual winners in the quarter finals. Which was possibly a good thing, as at least one member of Team RS wasn't far from a heart attack.

Highlights:
Ginger Ninja Dave Gilbert adeptly turning before taking the worst touch of the ball since Andreas Andersson contracted Newcastleitis, subsequently sprinting like a madman to just poke the ball beyond the keeper.

The support of lager-swilling bearded tramps Darren Taylor and Alistair Cook.

Watching Rock Sound scribe Joe Marshall running more than Forrest Gump on a jogging bender. Boy is a true athlete.

Fellow RS-ers Oli Robertson and Merlin Alderslade doing us proud.

Having a wicked day, massively enjoying it, winning three games, and finally qualifying from our group.

Lowlights:
Driving around Westfield shopping centre / Wood Lane tube station, where there was nowhere to park, to pick people up.

Being asked questions, on camera, by the website who were covering it. I can't believe I'm even worse at answering questions than I am at asking them.

Running out of liquids and going on a really rather ill-advised trip to buy more water / Lucozade etc with Joe. This involved me driving like an utter tit.

Some kids throwing something at my car (I think it was an egg, but it sounded like a bomb at the time) while we were driving out of Acton.

And yeah, obviously getting knocked out of the comp was quite crap. I think we did pretty well though.

Conclusion:
I could go on; I won't. Fantastic day and we're all now sunburnt. Plus, hopefully BSM owner Kev will relent with the RS trash-talk now! Congrats to the winners, Fear And Records.
