AFI Tour Blog: Australia Part Two
AFI guitarist Jade Puget blogs from the road for Rock Sound.
It's the end of the tour as we know it and I feel tired.
Australia, with your gorgeous cities and horrible exchange rate, your long blacks and your flat whites (types of coffee, calm down), your relaxed and affable populace, your Gloria Jeans and your Hungry Jacks, you've won my heart yet again.
I'm counting my first Soundwave festival a success. I got to watch Jane's Addiction prowl the stage, I got to spend quality time with Jimmy Eat World, I got to see Mike Patton in a peach suit. So what if I almost passed out several times from the hellacious summer heat.
Let me just bring up one complaint. At every single hotel we stayed at they charged $30 a day for internet. $30 a day! In 2010! And we're not talking about some hot shit hi-speed downloading movies while I brush my teeth internet, we're talking about pre-AOL dial-up 2k Geocities speed. This will not stand, people of Australia.
So as I jet off into the 90 degree morning on my 20 hour flight tomorrow, I'm going to leave a piece of my heart here, along with the shit-ton of dirty socks I abandoned in my hotel room.
