A-Z Of Canterbury In The Studio
Canterbury talk Rock Sound through the recording process of their new EP in A-Z form!
Blog
At the end of last year we released our debut for free (CanterburyThankYou.com), since then we've been sitting on some songs not quite ready for album two but still need to be heard, so last week we headed down to producer extraordinaire Peter Miles' crib in the deep south (west) to finish recording a six track EP.
Early mornings, late nights, Band of Brothers, river jumping, Call of Duty and even recording, we did it all! There's almost too much to cover in this wee blog so we've given you the best bits in alphabet form:
A - Z of Canterbury in the Studio
A - Ali - studio bitch/German Sheppard.

B - Bass Cab in our Bedroom! - not the best alarm clock.

C - Chorus Echo (Roland) - Dubby madness!

D - Dartmoor, Devon - where our producer Pete's studio is.

E - Effects - how to make guitar parts sound ridiculous.

F - Facial hair - everyone's in a secret competition to grow the most.

G - Garden Grows - the final track on our EP, it's a doozy!

H - Hard-drives - Pete loves to back up, we like it too.

I - Isolation - no phone signal round these parts.

J - James - Pete's son/monkey/assistant engineer.

K - Ketchup - Scott's mad obsession with it.

L - Leslie Speaker - putting just about everything through it's whirly goodness.

M - Maraca with a crack(a) - sounds better than the unbroken one!

N - Newts - been our fascination all week.

O - Organ - similar to the Phantom of the Opera, we can't leave it alone.

P - Producer Pete - he's sharp, he's cool, he's nobody's fool, he's Pete Miles producer/engineer.

Q - Quantize - Scott's best friend.

R - Recording Robes - one of them isn't wearing anything underneath...

S - Samba Jam - only way to finish an EP properly.

T - Tinnitus - we turn it up to 11.

U - Umbilical Cord - Mike just found out he still has most of his.

V - Vegan - producer Pete is one! No meat allowed in the house but we've stashed some ham upstairs.

W - When is it out?! - Septemberish, we're not sure yet but keep your ears peeled!

X - Xylophone - one of the many unnecessary pieces of percussion used this week.

Y - You - who we're doing it for!

Z - ZVEX Effects - nothing like a handmade/boutique guitar pedal.
