Biography

Ex Libras are Amit Sharma (Guitar / Vocals), Kieran Nagi (Keyboards / Bass) and Ross Kenning (Drums). Hounslow Borough Library…. Shhhh… Three library assistants are quietly swapping CD’s and talking music on their lunch breaks. Whispered words such as classical, minimalist, hip-hop, cinematic, experimental, found-sound, samples and loops fill staff-room coffee mugs. A disused SHED is found and converted into a permanent rehearsal and recording space. It is within these soundproofed wooden walls, at twilight, where Ex Libras are born. It is within these walls where their first releases are written and recorded. And it is within these walls where Ex Libras continue to hone and create their introspective and immersive sound. Ex Libras could be broadly filed under ‘Alt Rock’. But why opt for the traditional when you can invent and distribute nouveaux-faux musical labels such as ‘Aggressive Ambient’ and ‘Post Break-Beat’. Confusing…? It’s hard to find a better fit. Refused to be contained by traditional boundaries Ex Libras’ passionate live shows create an atmosphere that captivates every audience. With inventive use of live sampling the band become larger than three. The band's melodic finesse remains unparalleled amongst their peers. Never pretentious, Ex Libras are an equal mix of ‘groove’ and ‘orchestral’. From their first release, Radar, to their most recent release, Teenage Eyes, Ex Libras have consistently made an impact on the press, both printed and online. Reviews and features have poured in from several national music magazines and they've seen several of their tracks and videos featured on those magazines respective online hubs as well. These include print and online for Classic Rock Prog, Clash Magazine, Artrocker, the much-coveted Track Of The Day on Q Magazine, and Classic Rock Magazine. Radio and Podcasts have helped with Ex Libras' exposure to music fans up and down the UK, with their music featured by BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson, XFM's John Kennedy, Amazing Radio and Glasgow Podcart. On their recent tour of the North, Amazing Radio orchestrated an online competition, inviting members of the public to remix a live track from the band's live session in Newcastle. The last year has seen Ex Libras release, promote and tour 5 releases as DIY outfit. Their music has taken them across the UK and into Europe. Ex Libras are a hard working band only in their infancy and they’ve hit the ground running. Ex Libras are currently in their SHED working on their second (as yet untitled) full length LP.
