Alkaline Trio Announce New ‘Blood, Hair And Eyeballs’ Album And Share Title Track

Alkaline Trio have announced their tenth studio album, ‘Blood, Hair And Eyeballs’, and shared its title track.

Set for release on January 26, the new record will mark the band’s first full-length project since ‘Is This Thing Cursed?’ six years ago.

The album was recorded with Grammy-winning producer Cameron Webb at Studio 606 in Northridge, California.

It will mark both the first record released via the band’s new label home, Rise Records, and the final album to feature longtime drummer Derek Grant – who’s been the drummer on every Alkaline Trio record since 2003’s ‘Good Morning’.

As a first taste for what’s in store on the record, we have the album’s title track, which arrives with an energetic video directed by Ravi Dhar, and features pro skaters Steve Caballero, Chris Cole – have a listen and a watch below:

Explaining the roots of the new album and the creative process, Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba has shared:

“My mom worked for years as an emergency room nurse.

“She and her co-workers referred to exceptionally busy nights as ‘blood, hair, and eyeballs’. Well, we’ve been busy making an exceptional record we refer to as ‘Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs’, too.

“We approached this new record in completely new ways. We built the songs together, from the ground up, in the same room which hasn’t happened since the band started. Usually, we start with an idea somebody’s already written.

“This time, we had the unique opportunity to build the songs onto drums recorded at Studio 606 onto two-inch tape using one of the most beautiful-sounding and legendary consoles in rock. It has almost everything to do with how our new record sounds.”

We’ll hear the fruits of all that when the album arrives at the start of next year.
